WELCOME
Congratulations on an outstanding season and welcome to the 2010 Global Sports World Series. Your tournament host will be The City of Southaven, MS Parks and Recreation Department and it will be our goal to create an experience that the players, coaches and families will remember for the rest of their lives. The tournament will be played at the outstanding state of the art 17 field complex Snowden Grove Park in Southaven, MS, awarded the USSSA World Series Host of the Year in 2000 and the USSSA Complex of the Year in 2008. The tournament dates will be July 14-18, 2010.
HOW TO QUALIFY
Teams of ages 7-14 qualify to participate in a Global World Series by earning a berth in a Global World Series Qualifier. Team must be registered with USSSA and registered with Global Sports to participate in a Global Sports World Series Qualifier. Teams may register at www.usssa.com, Global Sports registration is $15 per year and can be completed at the same time as USSSA Baseball. Please check with your USSSA Baseball State Director for Global Qualifiers in your area.
HOW TO ENTER A GLOBAL SPORTS WORLD SERIES
Teams earning a berth at a Global Sports Qualifier may participate in any states' Global World Series. Teams must enter the Global Sports World Series at www.usssa.com on a first come first served basis. Teams that qualify will not be assured a spot at a specific World Series location. Teams may enter multiple
Global World Series.
GLOBAL SPORTS WORLD SERIES RULES
Global Sports World Series will be governed by the USSSA National Baseball Bylaws and Rules unless noted differently below.
USSSA Rosters will be the official roster at the Global Sports World Series. Teams may add two (2) additional players to the official roster at team check-in.
- Write-In players shall not be entered in the USSSA online roster system but rather "hand written" on the printabler version of the teams' Official Online Roster form.
- Write-in players are permitted to be frozen to any other classification team and be eligible.
Teams participating in the Elite World Series are NOT eligible for the Global Sports Baseball World Series.
USSSA Baseball reserves the right to alter, change or abbreviate the tournament as necessary to complete the tournament due to weather.
PRE-WORLD SERIES MEETINGS
There will be a manager's / coaches meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at theBancorpSouth Sports Center (adjacent to Snowden Grove Park), 3335 Pine Tar Alley, Southaven, MS 38672. Two representatives from each team will be permitted to attend this meeting. All teams will be required to have a representative in attendance. The official schedule for when teams play will be distributed at this time. Coaches Only.
Team credential check in will commence after the Coaches meeting at the BancorpSouth Sports Center (adjacent to Snowden Grove Park), 3335 Pine Tar Alley, Southaven, MS 38672. Team Rosters and player birth certificates will be verified at this time. Players ARE required to be present and must be in full uniform (World Series team pictures will be taken at this time). Each team will be assigned a check in time. The link for Check In Times (top of this page) will become active on July 10, 2010.
There will be a "Team Mom's meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at theBancorpSouth Sports Center (adjacent to Snowden Grove Park), 3335 Pine Tar Alley, Southaven, MS 38672. Two representatives from each team will be permitted to attend this meeting. At this meeting, representatives from the Desoto County Tourism office as well as various area merchants and area attractions sharing information regarding things to do while your team is in our area.
SKILLS COMPETITION, TEAM SOCIAL & OPENING CEREMONIES
The gates to Snowden Grove Park will open at 6:00 p.m. July 14, 2010 for pin trading. The Team Meal will be served between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. July 14th, 2010 (under the North Pavilion at Snowden Grove Park). The Skills Competition will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m.
The staging for the "Parade of Teams" will commence at approximately 7:45 p.m. July 14, 2010 and the actual opening ceremonies will begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. All teams must participate and should be in their uniform top. (Players are allowed to wear shorts).
Tournament play will begin on July 15, 2010.
SKILLS COMPETITION DETAILS
The overall objective of the skills competition is to have every player on each team participate and enjoy the social interaction of the tremendous event. If at all possible players should not enter more than one event.
Round the Horn - (5 Players)
Five (5) players from each team will be allowed to participate. The players will take their positions in the infield (1B,2B,3B,SS,C). The catcher will start the round. The catcher will throw to third baseman, third baseman throws to second baseman, second baseman throws to the shortstop, shortstop throws to first baseman and the first baseman throws back to the catcher. The "pop" time will start when the catcher throws and will stop when the catcher receives the throw from the first baseman. ANY DROPPED BALLS OR BAD THROWS ARE CONSIDERED LIVE AND TIME WILL KEEP RUNNING!
Accuracy Throw - (3 Players)
Three (3) players from each team can participate. Each player will get three (3) throws to hit the various targets. Players must throw behind the marked position in their respective age divisions' shallow centerfield. The targets will be staged around the home plate area.
Base Running - (4 Players)
Four (4) players from each team will be allowed to participate. Each player will start inside the right hand batters box and run the bases. Time will start on the first step and end when player touches home plate. Any additional player who has not participated in any event can participate.
WORLD SERIES HEADQUARTERS
Tournament Headquarters - Snowden Grove Park, Southaven, MS will be open on Wednesday July 14, 2010 until the conclusion of the tournament. ADMISSION during the World Series will be $8.00 per person per day or $25.00 for a tournament pass. For children (6-12) the charge will be $6.00 per day or $20.00 for a tournament pass. This charge includes everyone except players and team coaches. A maximun of 3 coaches passes will be issued.

Click on the link at the top of this page to avoid waiting in line, your preordered items will be available and waiting on you at the opening ceremonis on Wednesday y July 14, 2010.
NOTE: Pin Trading has become a tradition at World Series events, players will have an opportunity to trade pins during the team social prior to the opening ceremonies. Team pins are not mandatory, but certainly adds to the fun of this special event. We encourage each team to bring some small item to trade. Other examples other than team pins include..........contacting your local Chamber of Commerce for State/City pins.........contacting any Professional Sports Team in your area for smal promotional items, etc.
WORLD SERIES FORMAT
- Open to all Classifications
- Elite World Series qualified teams are NOT eligible to participate
- Ages 7-14
- Limited to 24 teams per age group
- Pool Play followed by Championship Play
- Teams will play an average of 7 games
- Champions of the 3 divisions will be crowned Global Sports World Series Champions
- Teams earn World Series USSSA Points
POOL PLAY
All teams will play 4 games within pool play. After pool play is complete, teams will be seeded 1 - 24 and be placed into a Championship bracket. Seeding for Championship play is based upon USSSA pool play / tie breaker criteria.
Initial pool seeding is based on:
- USSSA Classification
- USSSA Points
- Geographical Location
The tournament director has the final decision on seeding teams into pool play.
